Description
The RDR-1700 is an X-band, multi-mode airborne radar system designed for maritime surveillance and imaging. It functions as a search, surveillance, tracking, and weather avoidance radar for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, with an instrumented range of 160 nautical miles (296 km). The system can accommodate various antenna shapes and sizes to fit available radome space. While the RDR-1700A version utilizes a traveling wave tube for its power amplifier, subsequent versions, starting with the RDR-1700B, incorporate a solid-state transmitter; the RDR-1700B was designated AN/ZPY-4 by the U.S. Department of Defense.
