Description
The Type 89 Japanese Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle (MICV) replaces the Type 73 APC. The MICV is built by the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Tokyo, Japan with Komatsu, Tokyo, Japan as a subcontractor.. The MICV crew consist of 3 (driver, commander, and, gunner). The commander and driver sit side by side in the turret with the gunner on the left and the commander on the right. The MICV also carries 7 passengers. The turret has a 35-mm Oerlikon cannon that is produced under a license by Japan Steel Works. A KAM-9 laser guided anti-tank missile (produced by Kawasaki Heavy Industries) is located on either side of the turret.
