Description

The MERLIN Swiss 4x4 Light Tactical Vehicle is built on the proven chassis technology of the DURO and EAGLE vehicle families, using a De-Dion axle system for superior cross-country mobility. A key distinguishing feature of the MERLIN is its compact size relative to its payload; it is engineered to fit internally within CH-47 Chinook and CH-53 heavy-lift helicopters while capable of carrying a payload nearly equal to its own curb weight. The vehicle emphasizes agility and speed, powered by a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) derived powertrain optimized for military use. The MERLIN is designed to bridge the gap between light utility vehicles (such as UTVs/ATVs) and heavier protected patrol vehicles (such as the EAGLE V). Its primary roles include Rapid Deployment: its ability to drive on/drive off a Chinook enables immediate tactical employment upon landing, a critical requirement for airborne and special operations. High Payload Efficiency: The almost 1:1 payload-to-weight ratio (3.1t payload vs 3.2t empty) allows it to carry heavy weapon systems, extensive supplies, or additional armor kits without compromising the chassis. Modularity: The body design supports various configurations, including Personnel Transport (high-density seating for up to 10), Ambulance/Medevac, Logistics/Cargo, and Combat/Weapons Carrier.
