Description

The AN/APG-80 is an X-band airborne multimode radar manufactured by Northrop Grumman in the United States. It utilizes an active electronically scanned array (AESA) comprising approximately 1,000 transmit/receive modules, enabling continuous search and tracking of multiple targets within the aircraft's forward hemisphere up to an instrumented range of 220 nautical miles (410 km). This design provides enhanced operational flexibility, allowing pilots to simultaneously conduct air-to-air search and track, air-to-ground targeting, and aircraft terrain-following. Developed from the AN/APG-68, the AN/APG-80 is designed for use in the Lockheed F-16E/F fighter, with Northrop Grumman supplying it to the United Arab Emirates for its Block 60 F-16s.
