Description
The M120 120 mm mortar is a smooth‐bore, muzzle‐loaded, drop‐fired mortars of conventional design. The M120 is designed to be used by infantry, carried disassembled, and then reassembled in a static position for firing. When mounted in the M1064A3 mortar carrier for more mobile fire support, the mortar becomes the M121. At shorter ranges the mortar provides more effective, readily available, and easily controllable fire support than artillery.
