Description

The ATCR-33S-NG is an S-band air traffic control radar, operating within the 2,700 to 2,900 MHz frequency range. It is designed for use as a terminal area radar or a shorter-range en-route radar, with an instrumented range of up to 100 nautical miles (185 km) and an antenna rotation speed of 10 to 15 revolutions per minute. This system, manufactured by Leonardo of Italy, meets the functional and performance requirements set by ICAO and EUROCONTROL. It represents a further development of the ATCR-33S DPC, featuring updated radar electronics that incorporate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) assemblies, a significantly reduced space requirement, and Gallium nitride (GaN) transistor technology for enhanced reliability and transmission characteristics, contributing to a mean time between critical failures (MTBCF) of 40,000 hours and a mean time to repair (MTTR) of 20 minutes.
