Description
The AN/SPG-62 is an X-band continuous-wave fire control radar manufactured by Raytheon E-Systems in the United States. It serves as a target illumination radar for the RIM-156 Standard SM-2 missile, operating as a component of the U.S. Navy’s MK 99 Fire Control System. Up to four AN/SPG-62 units can be controlled by the AN/SPY-1 radar system. Its mechanically steered antenna features a parabolic reflector with a diameter of 7 feet 6 inches (2.29 meters), providing target illumination for the semi-active radar homing guidance of the missiles. The radar has an average power of 10 kW and a mean time between critical failures (MTBCF) of 9,000 hours.
