Description

The 1L220-U, also known by its NATO designation “Zoopark-2,” is an F-band battlefield radar designed for artillery detection. It can identify the positions of mortars, guns, rockets, and tactical missile batteries, estimate enemy impact points, and provide fire correction for friendly artillery. Operating autonomously with an internal navigation and orientation system, the radar utilizes a passive phased array antenna with linear vertical polarization and a fully coherent transmitter equipped with a traveling wave tube for its 40 kW peak power. With an instrumented range of 80 km, the 1L220-U was first delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 1999.
