MR-3000
The Northrop Grumman MR-3000 MODAR (Modular Aviation Radar) is an X-band (9,345-9,375 MHz) airborne forward-looking Doppler navigation and weather radar designed for civil and transport aircraft. It provides general weather information, microburst, and windshear prediction, utilizing windshear detection technology derived from NASA. The MR-3000 has a peak power of 138 W and an instrumented range of 670 nautical miles (1,240 km). A military variant, the MR-4000, incorporates mapping and beacon capabilities and is designated AN/APN-241(V) on newer C-130 aircraft. The MR-3000 received FAA supplemental type certification in 1995, with production ceasing in 2009.
