Borap
The KRTP-96 “Borap” (Komplet RadioTechnického Průzkumu - 1996) is a passive air defense and electronic intelligence (ELINT) radar system. It comprises at least two SRS-4M receiving stations, positioned 20 to 70 km apart, and an evaluation station. Developed by the military research institute in Brno (VTÚO Brno, now VVÚ), each receiving station features a 1.85 × 3.25 m antenna mounted on a 7 m mast. The system operates across a wide frequency range, from 1 to 18 GHz (standard) or 0.1 to 40 GHz (optional), within a 120° sector, detecting signals from sources such as TACAN, DME, IFF, SIF, and other communication radios. It determines the distance to reflecting objects by measuring differences in signal run time, while precise direction finding (0.2° to 0.4° accuracy) is achieved through multilateration of measurements from two spatially separated receiving stations, with a single station providing a rough direction within ±10°. The mobile version of the Borap system consists of three to four Tatra T-815 4×4 trucks and two semi-trailers, capable of simultaneously processing up to 200 targets within an instrumented range of 400 km.
