KVD-002 Chinese Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)
KVD-002

The KVD-002 Chinese Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is a next-generation platform that evolved from the proven CH-4 design. It is specifically engineered to address modern threats and support extended missions, delivering substantial information superiority on the battlefield. The KVD-002 offers the People’s Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF) comprehensive battlefield support through multiple advanced capabilities: • Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR): Enables long-duration observation and reconnaissance missions; • Fire Support: Delivers direct air-to-ground strikes using precision-guided munitions; • Coordination: Assists attack helicopters in targeting, improving the operational effectiveness of helicopter units; • Airborne Early Warning: Enhances airborne early warning and supports control aircraft operations; • Command and Control: Provides advanced C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) capabilities to ground forces. The introduction of the KVD-002 represents a substantial expansion of the PLAGF's operational capabilities. Prior to its unveiling, the Ground Force lacked organic unmanned combat air reconnaissance and precision strike capabilities, forcing reliance on Air Force assets or coordination with other service branches. The KVD-002's 30-hour endurance combined with its strike package addresses this capability gap and supports China's overseas expansion interests through enhanced reconnaissance and precision engagement capabilities.
