The Thales GS 1000, an S-band (IEEE designation) or E/F-band (NATO designation) multi-function air defense radar, is designed for the detection and tracking of tactical ballistic missiles at instrumented ranges up to 1,000 kilometers. Thales refers to its underlying technology as M³R (multifunctional, mobile, and modular radar), which utilizes the established SR3D platform architecture from the Groundmaster Radar Family. The GS 1000 can function as a surveillance sensor within an early warning network or operate in conjunction with the SAMP/T extended air defense weapon system.
