Description

The Indonesian Anoa armored personnel carrier was developed by Pindad. Its development commenced in 2004. This APC is named after an Indonesian type of buffalo. It is also referred to as the APS-3. The design of the Anoa has been copied from that of the French VAB, which is also in service with Indonesia.

Variants
Anoa II The Anoa II is an upgraded and up-armored variant. The vehicle has protection equivalent to NATO Standard Agreement (STANAG) Level 3. It can withstand 7.62-mm armor-piercing rounds and mine explosions equivalent to 18 lb (8 kg) at the wheels.

Note The baseline Anoa armored personnel carrier is fitted with a shielded cupola, which mounts a 12.7 mm machine gun or 40 mm automatic grenade launcher. This cupola is capable of 360° rotation.
