Description

The Bharani, also known as the Low-Level Lightweight Radar (LLLR), is a compact, solid-state, 2D surveillance radar operating in the L-band. Designed for early warning, it is employed by the Indian Army to protect vulnerable areas and points in mountainous terrain against aerial threats, often integrated with air defense weapon systems. The radar features an integral Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Mark XII system with Mode-S capability for identifying aircraft. Its lightweight design allows for versatile transport via vehicles, animal transport, or as heli-slung loads, and it can be dismantled into packages for rapid installation and relocation. Power is supplied by two 24V lithium-ion battery packs, weighing approximately 25 kg, providing 7 to 8 hours of operation, or by a 2kVA AC generator.
