Description
The AN/TPQ-18 is a transportable C-band instrumentation radar designed for satellite orbit surveying, operating at frequencies between 5.4 and 5.9 GHz. It is a mobile variant of the AN/FPQ-6 radar, with the first unit becoming operational in 1962. In 1994, the system underwent a major upgrade by Diversified Technologies, Inc., which included the installation of a new transmitter utilizing an Extended Interaction Klystron to achieve a peak power of 3 MW. Only three units of this radar system were produced.
