Description
The QW-19 Chinese Man-Portable Air-Defense Systems (MANPADS) is reported to employ a new digital seeker technology that gives the system a much higher jamming immunity compared with the other older models of the QW series. The missiles dual-band imaging infrared (IIR) seeker allegedly provides enhanced performance in both target acquisition and target lock-on prior to launch. The QW-19 boasts strong anti-jamming capabilities thanks to its composite "trigger + laser proximity" fuse and digital information processing technology. This allows the missile to explode upon contact or near the target, which is particularly effective against small targets such as cruise missiles and low-flying helicopters.
