Description

The M1001 American Projected Grenade is a grenade-launcher-fired, high-velocity canister cartridge (HVCC), anti-personnel (AP), steel flechette (x107) loaded, projected grenade. The 40mm M1001 High Velocity Cartridge Canister (HVCC), fired from the MK19 Grenade Launcher, allows the operator to radically change use of the MK19 from a stand-off area weapon to a short-range anti-personnel and perimeter defense weapon. The M1001 HVCC is designed for applications such as Perimeter Defense, Close Range Self Protection and Police and Security Actions.

Operation The firing pin strikes the percussion primer. The generated gases ignite the propelling charge in the high-pressure chamber. The propellant gas burns through the inside chamber and expands into the low-pressure area behind the grenade. Propellant gas then bleeds into the base of the canister grenade through four holes in the bottom of the grenade body. The pressure of the propellant gas, acting on the valve plate, pushes it forward against the valve spring. The plenum chamber is then opened. Additional pressure is produced when this gas ignites the expulsion charge, located in the plenum chamber. The pressure of combined gases force the valve plate against the base of the grenade and expels the pusher cup forward.
Probability-of-Hit 96% Probability-of-Hit on E-type silhouette when firing a 3 round burst against personnel in a 14X14 foot target area at 100m.
Note Produces a 3 to 4 foot wide dispersion pattern at 50m.
