Description
The vessel was originally built for the Russian navy to provide potable water to submarines and surface ships for crew consumption and (in surface ships) for use in boilers. No ships in the class remain in Russian service. The SURA (now-SUDAK) was transferred from Russia to Ukraine in 1997. Another sister ship was transferred to Vietnam.
