Description

The ASR-M (Air Surveillance Radar - Modular) is a modular air traffic control radar designed to operate in the S-band (2700-2900 MHz, IEEE designation) or E-band (NATO designation). It meets ICAO specifications for terminal area radars. Its modular design, known as the Next Generation System Platform (NGSP), features universally applicable modules and receivers modifiable for L-band (1250-1350 MHz, NATO D-band) operation. This allows the same hardware to be used for both high and low beam air traffic control radars, and as a modernization solution for older military monopulse radar systems like the S 723D or the AN/TPS-70/-75, with software customization for diverse operational requirements. The instrumented range is greater than 60 nautical miles (111 km).
