Description

The 1RL144 (NATO designation: “Hot Shot A”) is an S-band 3D surveillance and target acquisition radar, part of the 2S6M “Tunguska” hybrid anti-aircraft missile and gun air defense system. It features a single-curved parabolic antenna mounted at the rear of the turret, which is electromechanically position-stabilized for use even while the vehicle is in motion. The radar generates multiple antenna patterns, each approximately 5° wide in elevation angle up to 15°, and integrates a 1RL138 UHF secondary radar. Data from the 1RL144, which has a peak power of 10 kW and an instrumented range of 20 km with an accuracy of 20 m and 1°, is fed into the 1A26 central computer for weapon control. The 2S6M system also includes an X-band multifunction radar (NATO designation: “Hot Shot B”) for target tracking, mounted between the gun barrels, which uses the monopulse method for gun control and transmits pulse-position modulated codes for missile guidance, operating as a target-illuminating radar (NDZ) for missile radio igniters when missiles are within 1,000 m of the target, functioning as a bistatic radar for semi-active target tracking.
