Description
Type 054B Class (Jiangkai III Class) Chinese Frigate is approximately 50% larger in displacement terms than the preceding Type 054A and features a number of differences in weapon and sensor fit. The main gun is assessed to be a a 100 mm mount (vice 76 mm) and while the 32-cell VLS forward has been retained, it is possible that this is now of the same universal type as fitted to the Luyang III and Renhai classes. The two midships CIWS systems fitted to the Type 054A have been replaced by a single CIWS forward of the superstructure and a 24-cell launcher for HQ-10 point defence missiles above the hangar.
