39N6 “Casta 2E2”
The 39N6 “Casta 2E2” (also known as “Kasta 2-2”) is a mobile, medium-range, 3D, low-altitude surveillance radar operating in the UHF band, designed for both military and civilian applications such as air defense, border surveillance, and air traffic control. It detects aircraft, hovering helicopters, drones, cruise missiles, and sea targets, even at low altitudes, with an instrumented range of 5 to 150 km, a range resolution of 300 m, and an accuracy of 100 m in range and 0.7° in azimuth. Improvements over its predecessor, the Casta-2E1, include dual-channel data processing for approximate altitude measurement, an integrated plot extractor for automatic target detection and coordinate measurement, and a quickly mountable 14-meter high mast, with an optional 50-meter mast available to enhance detection of low-flying targets. The system, which has a 5.5° beamwidth and an antenna rotation speed of 6 or 12 revolutions per minute, comprises an electronic vehicle, an antenna vehicle, a vehicle with electric generators, and two single-axle trailers housing operator workstations, accessories, and spare parts, and can be remotely operated via an integrated radio channel up to 50 km away or by wire up to 300 m.
