Description

The Telets (Cyrillic: «Телец», meaning "Taurus") is a coastal over-the-horizon (OTH) early warning radar designed for detecting ships within a range of up to 250 kilometers. Operating in the high-frequency (HF) band from 3.5 to 15 MHz with low transmission power, it utilizes surface wave propagation for horizontal localization. Developed to monitor maritime activity within a 200-mile coastal economic zone, an experimental Telets radar station was established in Kamchatka in 1999.
