S 1830
The S 1830 is a naval S-band (2.8–3.1 GHz) medium-range target acquisition and surveillance radar, representing an enhanced development of the S 1810. It features a solid-state transmitter with 38 parallel power amplifier modules, a fully digital Moving Target Indication (MTI), and pulse compression, reducing an 18-microsecond transmit pulse to 0.4 microseconds on reception. The S 1830 can be configured with a 4.7-meter high-gain antenna (S 1831) rotating at 10 or 20 revolutions per minute (rpm), or a 2.4-meter antenna (S 1832) rotating at 20 or 60 rpm; both utilize a small phased array as the primary radiator. An additional variant, the S 1834, employs a planar antenna array composed of 44 stacked boards, rotating at 10 or 20 rpm, offering an instrumented range of 200 km, with a maximum range of 187 km using a five-beam transmit pattern or 120 km with 12 beams. This radar system was designed to fulfill the air search radar requirements for the Norwegian Oslo-class frigates and the Pakistani Type 21 frigates.
