Description

The PHL-11 Chinese 122mm Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) is a truck-mounted self-propelled 122 mm multiple rocket launcher (SPMRL) produced by Norinco for the People's Liberation Army Ground Force. It is a modernized replacement for the older PHL-81.

SR-5 The SR5 is based on the rear of a Chinese TA 5310 (6×6) cross-country chassis fitted with a four-door unprotected forward control cab. Mounted on the rear of this chassis is a power-operated turntable rocket launcher, which can accept two pods of surface-to-surface rockets, that is, one pod of 20×122 mm rockets and one pod of six 220 mm rockets. Two pods of either rocket in a single-calibre configuration can also be fitted. Before launching the surface-to-surface rockets, two hydraulically operated stabilizers are lowered to the ground, one on either side at the vehicle's rear by remote control. The SR-5 is in service. The SR5 can launch the complete family of Norinco 122 mm unguided rockets, which have ranges of 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 km depending on the type.
SR-7 The SR7 is a lighter version of the SR5 based on a smaller and lighter 6×6 cross-country platform that carries either a pod of 20×122 mm or the six-round pod for 220 mm rockets. the SR7 is under development and has not yet entered service.

PHL-21 Truck chassis based on the FAW MV3 series of tactical trucks, specifically the 4x4 CTM-133 variant, similar to the ones used on PCL-161 lightweight howitzer.
