Warhead The PG-2 projected grenade has a HEAT (high-explosive anti-tank) warhead which has an inertia impact base fuze. The warhead can be unscrewed from the rear body (stabiliser tube) of the grenade. The warhead which can be between 80 and 85mm in calibre fits outside the launcher, whilst the stabiliser tube, (40mm calibre) and propellant charge fit inside the launcher. There is a small lug at the front end of the stabilizer tube, which locates in a cut out at the muzzle of the launcher, this ensures the percussion primer is in line with the firing pin (on the underside of the launcher).
Charge The stand-off for the shaped charge is provided by the hollow nose cone.
Note The RPG-2 (РПГ-2) is a man-portable, shoulder-launched anti-armour weapon developed from the German Panzerfaust of the Second World War.
