Description

The Rohini is a ground-based 3D medium-range air surveillance radar, operating in the S-band (IEEE designation) or E/F-band (NATO designation). It provides detection and tracking of air targets, even in hostile electronic warfare environments, scanning 360° in azimuth and 30° in elevation up to 18 km height, with an instrumented range of 200 km and a range resolution of 200 m. The radar utilizes a passive phased array antenna with 32 rows of 48 radiating elements across four segments, generating seven stacked pencil beams to accurately determine target height, and features a Mode-S compatible Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) antenna mounted atop the primary radar. One of three derivatives of the licensed Polish TRS-19 radar (export designation of NUR-15 “Odra”), collectively known as 3D Central Acquisition Radar (3D-CAR), the Rohini system is transported on three 8x8 TATRA trucks: one for the antenna and radar electronics (Radar Sensor Vehicle), one for operator consoles (Data Center Vehicle), and a third housing two 125 kVA generators for independent power, allowing deployment and decampment in under 30 minutes.
