Description
The AN/APY-8 (Lynx) is an airborne, high-resolution, all-weather synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ground moving target indicator (GMTI) system operating in the Ku band. It generates photo-like radar images with a maximum resolution of 4 inches (approximately 10 cm) in SAR spotlight mode and tracks moving ground targets in GMTI mode. With an instrumented range of 47 nautical miles (87 km), the Lynx radar system has been integrated into Predator and I-Gnat unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems as the successor to TESAR, and its low weight also makes it suitable for many manned flight platforms.
