Description

The TRS-2215 is an S-band (IEEE designation) or E/F-band (NATO designation) 3D air defense radar system, derived from the SATRAPE height-finding radar used by the French Air Force. It employs electronic phase scanning in elevation, utilizing a direct radiation antenna with stacked linear subarrays that form sum and elevation difference channels for monopulse height-finding. The transmitter uses a crossed-field amplifier, enabling pulse compression (from 3.13 µs to 0.2 µs) and pulse-to-pulse frequency agility, delivering 700 kW peak power and 10 kW average power. The receiver includes anti-jamming and three angle error chains, with a Moving Target Indication (MTI) device processing signals from the lower beams. An extractor associates primary and secondary plots, followed by a plot processing system that computes altitude and filters data for digital transmission of tracks to remote centers, with an instrumented range of 335 nautical miles and an antenna rotation period of 10 seconds.
