VAB MK3 French 6x6 Amphibious Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV)
VAB MK3

The VAB MK3 French 6x6 Amphibious Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) is not merely an upgrade; it represents a completely new vehicle design that has been fully adapted to address modern battlefield threats, such as IEDs and mine blasts. This vehicle aims to replace older models like the BTR, M113, and the original VAB by leveraging a combat-proven design while maintaining a lower cost. The layout of the VAB MK3 is similar to that of the standard VAB, featuring the engine at the front, the crew compartment in the middle, and the troop area at the rear. Its new modular design, sufficient payload capacity, and innovative electronic architecture enable the VAB MK3 to undertake various missions and accommodate a wide range of weapon systems, providing growth potential. The VAB MK3 is fully amphibious, with propulsion in water provided by a water jet mounted at the rear of the hull. It can be airlifted and deployed by military transport aircraft such as the C-130 Hercules or the Airbus A400M. As a medium combat system prepared for current and future battlefields, the VAB MK3 is equipped with the BATTLENET INSIDE innovative electronic architecture developed by Renault Trucks Defense. BATTLENET INSIDE utilizes open, standardized, and proven commercially off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions derived from IP technologies, including switched Ethernet, SNMP administration, Voice over IP, the MPEG4 video standard, and Open Source developments.
