Description

The RSR-320 is a short- to medium-range air defense radar system manufactured by Reutech Radar Systems of South Africa. It functions as a surveillance and target acquisition radar, capable of operating simultaneously in both L-band and X-band frequencies. The L-band transmitter is semiconductor-based, while the X-band transmitter employs a traveling wave tube. With an instrumented range of 80 km and an antenna rotation speed of 60 revolutions per minute, the RSR-320 can also guide Umkhonto anti-aircraft missiles during their initial flight segment, complementing their infrared homing heads. An advanced version of the Thutlwa ESR 220, it features integrated Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) capabilities and provides an accuracy of 40 meters and 0.7 degrees.
