Fuze Unlike the MUV, the Chinese fuze has a distinctive crimped shoulder and has a visible seam along its side.
Fuze Cavity One of the major improvements in this landmine, over the Type 58 fragmentation is that the fuze cavity is threaded and has a gasket to prevent water from entering the landmine body.
Tripwire A tripwire pull fuze assembly which is threaded into the top of the body is copied directly from the basic MUV fuze.
Note #1 The Type 59 anti-personnel landmine is a close copy of the Russian POMZ-2M. The Type 59 has six rows scored into the body, while the POMZ-2M has 5 rows.
Note #2 Stake-landmines, using an interconnected matrix of tripwires, are commonly encountered at anti-personnel landmine fields protecting fixed facilities such as airfields, depots and troop locations.
