Description
The AN/APQ-158 is an airborne, multimode, forward-looking radar system operating in the Ku band with an instrumented range of 150 nautical miles (approximately 280 km). It is primarily used for terrain-following and terrain-avoidance maneuvers at low altitudes. This digitized and improved version of the AN/APQ-126 radar was notably installed in the Sikorsky MH-53J Enhanced Pave Low III helicopter, which saw service during Operation Desert Storm.
