Description

The RTN-30X “Orion,” also known as the MM/SPG-76 (Marina Militare, Italian Navy nomenclature), is an I-band naval fire-control and missile guidance radar with an instrumented range of 45 km. It features a monopulse Cassegrain antenna with a polarization twist and a fully coherent chain transmitter utilizing a traveling wave tube as the final amplifier, delivering a peak power of 12 kW. The radar offers two operational modes: a long pulse mode with a 6.5 µs coded waveform employing 13-bit Barker Code pulse compression, and a short pulse mode using a 0.5 µs keyed on/off single pulse. Its fully digital receiver incorporates a multi-canceller moving target indicator and includes features to mitigate multipath effects on low-flying targets. The RTN-30X shares many components with the RAN-30X surveillance radar.
