Description

The RL-2000/GCI is a primary surveillance radar designed for Terminal Approach Control (TAC) applications, benefiting from extensive experience in both civilian and military radar systems. Operating in the 2.7 to 2.9 GHz frequency band, it employs a staggered pulse repetition time (PRT) and frequency diversity with pulsewidths of 1 µs and 45 µs. The radar delivers a peak power of 14 or 25 kW and an average power of 2 to 2.6 kW, achieving an instrumented range of 60 or 80 nautical miles with a range resolution between 70 and 230 meters. Its antenna system provides a double-coverage cosecant-squared illumination pattern with a beamwidth of less than 1.5 degrees, offering adjustable linear or circular polarization for improved weather clutter rejection. The system features a fully solid-state, modular, air-cooled transmitter composed of 2x16 independent modules, a digital superheterodyne receiver with triple frequency down-conversion, and a 32-bit signal processor for adaptive Moving Target Detection (MTD), digital pulse compression, Doppler filtering, and adaptive Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) filtering. It includes a weather channel for reporting actual weather conditions, meets or exceeds ICAO and EUROCONTROL recommendations, and can be extended with a monopulse secondary surveillance radar (MSSR-1) for an integrated Terminal Control Area (TMA) solution. The RL-2000/GCI ensures high system stability, powerful clutter suppression, and excellent target detection up to 80 NM, with data output in standardized ASTERIX format, and supports unattended operation through a sophisticated remote control and monitoring system.
