Description

Armor is an early warning, instrumentation, and tracking radar designed for measuring the trajectory of ballistic missiles. Operating in the C-band (5.4–5.9 GHz), also known as the G-band by NATO, it features a large instantaneous bandwidth and a monopulse antenna with a 10-meter Cassegrain reflector. Its transmitter utilizes a wideband traveling wave tube (TWT) driver stage and a high-power klystron final stage, delivering a peak power of 2 MW. Two Armor radar sets, each weighing 47 metric tons, are installed on the French research vessel Monge (A 601).
