Description

The MR-18 Ukrainian Mobile 3D Air-Surveillance Radar is a VHF-band radar that uses a yagi-dipole array antenna, specifically designed for the detection of stealth aircraft. The MR-18 can be integrated into anti-aircraft missile troops to provide targeting information to missile complexes. Additionally, it serves as a communication link for air forces and air defense units for air traffic control. The MR-18 radar system detects, tracks, and measures airborne target coordinates and their ground speed. It operates effectively under various conditions, including interference from natural sources, as well as active and passive jamming, or a combination of these factors. The system can recognize aircraft identification friend or foe (IFF) equipment and calculate both elevation and azimuth bearings at active jamming stations. It can also provide data to offline display facilities and interact with command posts, including regional and higher national automatic control posts (ACP). Compared to other radars in the same frequency band, such as the Nebo and Vostok series, the MR-18 offers advantages like a short deployment time of just five minutes and the capability to determine altitude.
