TAFLIR
The TAFLIR (TAktisches FLIeger Radar) is an air defense radar system, a modified version of the AN/TPS-70, used by the Swiss Air Force to replace the AN/TPS-1. Operating in the S-band (IEEE designation) or E/F-band (NATO designation) at frequencies between 2900 and 3100 MHz, it employs a large phased array antenna with very low sidelobes (below 35 dB). The system utilizes a multiple-beam architecture with a fully redundant channel, simultaneously scanning all elevations and ranges for targets using six beams, which ensures more hits per target for optimal clutter rejection and target extraction. It transmits an intrapulse-modulated pulse using quadrature phase-shift keying, with a peak power of 1 MW, an average power of 1.7 kW, and an instrumented range of 100 km.
