VURAN 4X4 MORTAR Turkish 120mm Mortar System

The VURAN 4X4 MORTAR, a Turkish 120mm mortar system, is equipped with the ALKAR 120mm Mortar Weapon System. This system was developed as part of the Turkish Defense Industry Agency’s Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles project and has been added to the inventory of the Gendarmerie General Command. The ALKAR 120mm Mortar Weapon System is integrated into a turret and features several advanced components, including an Automatic Leveling System, Automatic Ammunition Loading System, Recoil Mechanism, and Fire Control System, all designed by ASELSAN along with its sub-systems. With a precision electro-mechanical turret capable of rotating 360 degrees, the ALKAR can fire at high barrel angles. It has a range of 1.5 to 8 kilometers, depending on whether a rifled or smoothbore barrel is used, and it is compatible with various types of 120mm mortar ammunition, such as MOD209, MOD226, MOD236, and MOD227. This system can be ready to fire in less than a minute and can change positions in under ten seconds.
