Description
The AN/PPS-6, also known as the “People Finder,” is a portable, non-coherent pulse Doppler ground surveillance radar operating in the X-band (9.0 to 9.5 GHz). It is designed for battlefield use, capable of detecting and tracking personnel (walking, running, or crawling), animals, and vehicles within an instrumented range of 3,000 meters. The radar utilizes a parabolic reflector antenna with a Cutler feed, and its 100 W peak power radio frequency is generated by a Varian BLM-003 magnetron, transmitting pulses with a 0.26 µs duration at a repetition frequency between 1,800 and 2,200 Hz, with a beamwidth of 7°.
