TRM-S
The TRM-S is a mobile G-band 3D radar, developed as a fully-coherent, multi-mode phased array surveillance and target acquisition system for the German ROLAND air defense system (Heeres- Flugabwehr- Aufklärungs und Gefechtsführungssystem HFlAFüSys). Designed for short and medium-range detection and air defense, it has an instrumented range of 110 nautical miles and an antenna rotation period of 2.25 to 4.44 seconds. The system comprises a remote-controlled sensor and an evaluator shelter, transportable on 15-ton cross-country trucks and separable by up to 300 meters. Setup by six operators takes less than 30 minutes, and the Nuclear/Biological/Chemical (NBC) warfare-proofed evaluator shelter accommodates up to three operators with Command, Control, and Communications (C³) functions, capable of displaying up to 4,000 targets simultaneously. An Identification Friend-or-Foe (IFF) section is integrated into the antenna array, and excellent Electronic Counter-Countermeasures (ECCM) features are ensured by the agility of its main radar parameters, including transmission, pulse repetition, and polarization. Performance is monitored by an integrated automatic test system, while phase-coded pulse compression provides long-range detection at low transmit power and high resolution. Scanning in all modes is performed by a high-precision, computer-controlled pencil beam, and additional self-protection can be achieved through a TRM-S-controlled standoff deception jammer, built with G-band family modules.
