DF-11 (Dongfeng 11, 东风-11) Close-Range Ballistic Missile
Dong-Feng 11

The Dong Feng-11 (DF-11) is a road-mobile, nuclear-capable, close-range ballistic missile developed by the People’s Republic of China (PRC). A solid-fuel SRBM launched from a transporter erector launcher (TEL), the DF-11 can be launched with roughly 30 minutes of preparation and can reach ranges up to 300km. While the DF-11 has an estimated accuracy of 200m CEP, the PRC is reportedly working to increase its accuracy to 30m CEP through the addition of the Global Positioning System (GPS) and laser guidance systems. The missile relies heavily on the Wanshan WS-2400 TEL for its road-mobile survivability. Manufactured by Wanshan Special Vehicle, the WS-2400 is an indigenous 8x8 heavy high-mobility tactical truck directly derived from the Soviet MAZ-543 chassis. Measuring approximately 11.4 meters in length, this heavy-duty chassis gives the DF-11 system excellent cross-country and off-road capabilities. This high mobility allows the launch unit to traverse rugged terrain, launch its payload, and rapidly relocate to evade enemy counter-battery fire or satellite detection.
