Description

The PSTAR (Portable Search and Target Acquisition Radar) is a man-portable L-band battlefield radar, operating between 1.22 and 1.46 GHz, originally developed as the Light/Special Division Interim Sensor (LSDIS) or AN/PPQ-2 for the U.S. Army. This compact and lightweight system provides early warning and directional orientation to assist air defense weapon system gunners in acquiring hostile aircraft, utilizing a rotating planar phased-array antenna and a sunlight-readable LCD display that can be remoted up to 100 meters. With an instrumented range of 20 km and an accuracy of ±200 meters and 2 degrees, it can be mounted on a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). Lockheed Martin offers an updated PSTAR-ER (Extended Range) version with an enhanced maximum range of 35 km.
