Description

The RAN-40L, also known by its Italian Navy nomenclature MM/SPS-798, is an L-band 3D long-range early warning radar. It features a fully solid-state active phased array antenna that employs monopulse techniques, achieving radar coverage through phase-scanning in elevation and mechanical rotation in azimuth. The system has an instrumented range of 400 km, with an accuracy of less than 50 meters and 0.4 degrees, and can rotate at 6 or 12 revolutions per minute. Designed for easy integration into various Combat Management Systems, the RAN-40L is fully remote accessible, boasting a Mean Time Between Critical Failures (MTBCF) of at least 1500 hours and a Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) of 30 minutes or less.
