Description

The Pathfinder 16 is a naval navigation radar manufactured by Raymarine, operating in the X-band (IEEE designation) or I-band (NATO designation) at a frequency of 9,400 ±30 MHz. Its 6-foot-long open slotted waveguide antenna rotates at speeds of 12, 24, 36, 48, or 60 revolutions per minute. The radar's pulse duration and pulse repetition frequency (PRF) are automatically adjusted according to the selected display range, which extends from 0.75 to 96 nautical miles (178 km), providing a range resolution of 30 meters. The system allows for the configuration of two user-defined sectors where the 35 kW peak power transmitter can be deactivated to prevent illumination of ship structures. The "16" in its name refers to the diagonal size of its corresponding display, with other available display sizes including 19, 22, and 24 inches.
