Description
The ASR-E is an S-band solid-state air traffic control radar, designed and manufactured by Cassidian (formerly EADS) in Ulm. Operating between 2.7 and 3.0 GHz, it is optimized for approach and tower control applications, offering improved target acquisition and identification. Its capabilities include high azimuth and range accuracy, with a range resolution of 540 ft and an instrumented range of 60 nautical miles (approximately 110 km). The system also features a separate weather channel capable of detecting bird migration, assisting air traffic controllers in rapid situation assessments under various conditions.
