Description

The AN/BPS-16 is a low-power naval surface search and navigation radar, operating within the X-band (8,795 to 8,855 MHz) for U.S. nuclear-powered submarines. It is an advanced version of the AN/BPS-15, sharing most technical specifications, including a peak power of 35 kW and a range resolution of 30 meters, but features improved mast stability. Manufactured by Sperry Marine, a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman, this radar has been in limited production since late 1991.
