Description

The Type 72B Chinese Anti-Personnel Mine is a high-explosive (HE), electronic anti-handling variants of the Chinese Type 72 (AP) blast landmine.

Design The upper section of the plastic casing has a soft rubberised pressure plate cover that screws onto the lower section. Inside the top section is the same rotating safety mechanism as the Type 72, except that the plastic stop pin is cut off flush with its housing.
Safety Pin A metal safety pin prevents the rotation of the spring-loaded plastic ring, as in the Type 72 and also retains a spring-loaded electric switch.
Batteries The lugs of the plastic ring retain a circular electronic circuit board, which is fitted with two 3v lithium batteries.
Detonator The lower section is similar to the pressure-operated version and houses the main charge and detonator, with a booster assembly screwed into the center of the base.
