Description

The AN/SPS-41 is an X-band (9,375 MHz) naval radar designed for surface search and navigation on smaller vessels. It operates with a peak power of 7 to 10 kW, offering an instrumented range from 25 yards up to 32 nautical miles (approximately 60 km). The system utilizes a 10-inch diameter cathode ray tube for its Plan Position Indicator (PPI) display, featuring range rings and a variable marker for precise target distance determination. Its AN1004/SPS-41 antenna, a horn-fed, single-curved parabolic reflector with a 1.8° beamwidth, produces a fan beam pattern with 20 degrees of vertical coverage and rotates at 21 revolutions per minute. The antenna is also equipped with a wind balancing vane.
