Description

The Siemens 1990 is a Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) developed in Germany by Siemens Defence Electronics. Operating at 1030/1090 MHz, it was designed for both civil and military air traffic management and air defense systems, with its characteristics standardized by Eurocontrol. While largely retired, some military airfields continued to use it due to delays in the delivery of newer ASR-E radars from EADS. Key specifications include a peak power of up to 2 kW, an instrumented range of up to 250 nautical miles, and a range resolution of 500 meters.
